Most of us have met Royce Williams. At the BBQs for the High School Chess tournament, at the Lions Club swap meet, helping at the Harcourt Fire Refuge centres and many more places including each meeting night at the Cumberland this year where he works as dining staff. On the 29 July Royce was our special guest speaker. He spoke about the World Scout Jamboree (WJS) next year in Poland and his journey towards that. This is the largest International Scouting event held every four years in a different country and it brings together 40,000 scouts from all over the world. It certainly sounds like a life-changing event filled with adventures, cultural exchange and global friendships.
Royce is a current Yr 12 student at CSC and is a very busy young man as a Friend of RC Castlemaine and a Castlemaine Lion. He is a Venturer Scout and is very passionate about his Scouting Life which started in 2015 as a Cub Scout, all at 1st Castlemaine Pioneer Scouts.
He loves Scouting and all the opportunities it has presented to him. Royce is grateful for all of the practical skills he has picked up as well as Team work and Leadership skills. These opportunities arise at the weekly meetings and also at the many Jamboree & Stradbroke Cup events he has attended.
Royce also hopes to start up a Castlemaine Rover Crew which will open opportunities for young people 18-25yrs as well as giving back to the Troop in the form of available and willing leaders. Well done Royce, we're proud to be a part of the Royce Williams story.
